Is parking a challenge in older residential neighborhoods? The Shanghai Municipal Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association has proposed: Where feasible, underground parking garages should be built.
Parking is a major challenge in older residential neighborhoods, and the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association has proposed building underground parking garages in suitable communities. In recent years, as the number of households owning private cars has steadily increased, inadequate parking in older neighborhoods has become a widespread issue in Shanghai. With resources already scarce, how can this problem be addressed? At the upcoming 2020 Shanghai Two Sessions, the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association plans to submit a joint proposal suggesting that Shanghai pilot the planning and construction of underground parking facilities in eligible older residential areas, enabling these neighborhoods to separate pedestrian and vehicular traffic, reclaim public space for residents, and restore green spaces to the community. The proposal notes that in some older residential areas in Shanghai, due to insufficient supporting infrastructure…

Parking Infrastructure | Shaoxing: The urban parking guidance system has been fully completed and put into operation.
“A total of 138 parking spaces, with 53 remaining.” Yesterday (December 25) at 4 p.m., a reporter observed at the entrance of the Yuecheng District Library in Shaoxing that an electronic display screen was providing real-time updates on the number of available and occupied parking spaces. Citizens can check the availability without entering the parking lot, making it easier to find a spot. This is one of the newly installed Level‑3 parking guidance displays in Yuecheng District. According to the reporter, with the completion of all 76 parking guidance screens, the city’s parking guidance system has been fully operational. Across the three districts, 100 parking facilities offering more than 30,000 spaces have been integrated into the system, enabling citywide sharing of “smart parking” and seamless interconnection among the three areas.

Multi‑storey Parking | The First in Jiaxing! This Multi‑storey Car Park at the Second Municipal Hospital Boasts a Cutting‑Edge, High‑Tech Design
A brand-new six-story building has come into view in Jiaxing Second Hospital. While it looks like an office tower, it is actually an intelligent, flat‑floor mobile multi‑level parking garage. The project has passed inspection and is currently undergoing trial operation. According to reports, the garage offers 130 parking spaces. Drivers simply drive their vehicles into the ground-floor parking bay, take a card, and a robotic system will lift and transport the car to one of the upper levels. To retrieve their vehicle, drivers need only swipe their card; within about 90 seconds, their car will emerge on the ground floor, facing outward. This is Jiaxing’s first intelligent, flat‑floor mobile multi‑level parking facility, which not only makes efficient use of already scarce land but also helps alleviate parking pressures for patients and visitors. Moreover…

Twelve public parking lot projects in Chongqing’s Yuzhong District are steadily advancing.
As an old urban district, Yuzhong District in Chongqing suffers from underdeveloped parking infrastructure. In recent years, the district has tailored its approach to local conditions, carefully selecting sites and constructing new parking facilities to significantly enhance the city’s vehicle‑handling capacity and overall livability. Expanding Public Parking Capacity: Recently, residents visiting the Municipal Children’s Palace noticed a new blue leisure and recreation plaza. Upon inquiry, they learned that this is a rooftop plaza built atop a newly constructed parking garage. At present, the rooftop plaza at the Municipal Children’s Palace is nearly complete, with interior finishing, fire‑safety systems, and electrical installations each about 70% finished. The plaza features bright colors and lush greenery, seamlessly integrated with the palace’s original square, greatly expanding the available space for visitors.
