Parking Updates | Quanzhou has put 30 public parking lots into operation this year.

Recently, data from the Quanzhou Municipal Housing and Urban–Rural Development Bureau show that in 2020, Quanzhou earnestly implemented measures to address infrastructure shortcomings in both urban and rural areas, launching 38 public parking facility projects with a planned annual investment of RMB 223 million. By mid-November, cumulative investment had reached RMB 229 million. Thirty public parking lots, including the Puxi Park at Quanzhou North Riverside Park, the Maritime Silk Road Park, the Shishi Flower Sea Valley, the Jinjiang Second Sports Center, and the Tangzhai Mountain Park in Dehua, have been completed and put into operation, adding a total of 6,009 parking spaces.

According to reports, since the beginning of this year, several parks in Quanzhou Taiwan Business Investment Zone—including Haishi Park, Shishi Huahai Valley Park, Fenglu Mountain Park, and Tangzhai Mountain Park in Dehua County—have added eco-friendly parking facilities, creating an additional 1,656 parking spaces. “In tandem with the development of ecological green corridors, these initiatives aim to address the longstanding challenge of finding parking for residents and visitors enjoying spring outings and leisure activities,” said a responsible official from the Municipal Housing and Urban–Rural Development Bureau.

How difficult it is to find parking at hospitals is a frustration that every local resident who has visited can readily attest to. In response to this pressing public‑service issue, since the beginning of this year, the Second‑Phase Ward Building at the Chengdong Branch of Quanzhou First Hospital, Quanzhou Infectious Diseases Hospital, Guangqian Hospital, and other facilities have all added multiple new parking lots, bringing the total number of additional parking spaces to over 1,000.

In addition, Nan’an has added 101 parking spaces to the public parking lot at its administrative service center, while also installing photovoltaic carports and charging stations to provide greater convenience for residents visiting the center. Meanwhile, Dehui Plaza in Shishi City has repurposed its own vacant land to build a self‑driving multi‑storey parking garage, adding 615 new parking spaces and helping to ease parking congestion in Shishi’s central urban area.

Huian County has implemented a smart parking management system, applying information‑based, intelligent, and user‑friendly solutions to over 1,000 on‑street parking spaces in the urban area. This has effectively increased parking space turnover rates and significantly enhanced residents’ commuting experience.
