Multi‑Story Parking | Zigong’s first smart multi‑story parking facility, “Che Lifu,” will begin construction next month.
In the city center, where land is at a premium, parking spaces have been expanding very slowly, and the “difficulty of finding parking” has long been a major concern. On July 11, reporters learned from Zigong Jiaxin New City Investment and Development Co., Ltd.—a wholly owned subsidiary of the Municipal Urban Investment Group—that the city’s first pilot project for an intelligent, multi‑level parking facility, dubbed “Che Li Fang,” has been sited in the Renhe area of Da’an District. Construction is set to begin next month, with a planned total investment of 48 million yuan. The structure will feature an all‑steel framework and glass exterior walls, offering 216 parking spaces, and is expected to be completed and put into operation by February next year. According to reports, the “Che Li Fang” smart, multi‑level parking facility is being spearheaded by the Municipal Housing and Urban–Rural Development Bureau, with the aim of exploring new models for parking‑lot development and promoting cutting‑edge technologies.

Parking Solutions | Nanjing Tackles Parking Challenges Through a Multi‑Pronged Approach: Systematic Remediation of Ten Areas with Severe Parking Shortages
As the number of vehicles continues to rise, parking shortages have become a major pain point in many large and medium-sized cities. In recent years, Nanjing has made significant efforts to tackle urban challenges such as parking difficulties. Since the beginning of this year, it has even included comprehensive improvements in ten areas—such as the Fuzimiao district—where parking problems are particularly acute, as part of its initiatives to deliver tangible benefits to residents. Through innovative measures and systematic governance, the city is charting a new path to address parking shortages across the board. Adopting a systems‑based approach, the city is advancing integrated, area‑wide solutions to the parking crisis. At its root lies the mismatch between the growing number of cars and the limited availability of parking spaces. According to incomplete statistics, by the end of last year, the six districts on the southern bank of the Yangtze River in Nanjing had a total of 1.447 million registered motor vehicles, while the overall supply of parking spaces stood at approximately 1.032 million.

Smart Parking | Hubei Province’s first eco-friendly smart parking garage will open on National Day.
Yichang East Station is an important tourist transit hub in Hubei Province, and parking difficulties have long been a major source of frustration there. This National Day holiday, that challenge may finally be resolved: a garden‑style smart parking garage is set to open, offering more than 1,000 parking spaces. Recently, a reporter from Chutian Metropolis visited the construction site of the parking garage at Yichang East Station. The project is located about 100 meters west of the station, adjacent to the existing parking lot and just some 200 meters from the Yichang Passenger Transport Center. On site, the reporter observed that the development covers nearly 50,000 square meters, with three above‑ground levels and two underground levels, presenting an imposing and grand scale. The walls are adorned with…

Understanding the full extent of parking resources is the first step toward solving the “parking shortage”!
What is the actual parking situation in Guangzhou? On July 11, the Guangzhou Municipal Transportation Bureau announced that, in order to gain a clear understanding of the city’s current parking supply and demand, establish a foundational database of parking resources, and provide support for formulating citywide parking‑lot planning as well as developing parking‑related strategies and policies, a comprehensive parking‑resource survey has officially been launched. Only with a thorough investigation can we obtain reliable data, which in turn enables effective planning and implementation; thus, such a resource census is an essential prerequisite for policy formulation. After two decades of public outcry over parking difficulties, the relevant authorities have finally begun a full‑scale survey—though belated, this nonetheless represents significant progress. According to the Guangzhou Municipal Transportation Commission previously…

An Overview of Parking Policy Practices in First-Tier Cities at Home and Abroad
Today, many small and medium-sized cities face significant challenges, including a severe shortage of parking spaces, low turnover rates, unreasonable pricing structures, lax enforcement, and outdated management practices. Examining the historical evolution of parking planning and development in cities both domestically and internationally reveals that, initially, efforts to meet growing parking demand typically relied on passively increasing the number of parking spaces. Over time, this approach has evolved to integrate strategic parking‑lot siting with measures to enhance the utilization of existing facilities. Through long-term planning, construction, and management, localities have accumulated valuable experience that is worth drawing upon. United States—Supply Control and High Turnover①: Limiting the supply of parking spaces to align parking demand with urban socio‑economic development, transportation, land use, and environmental considerations.
