A new multi-level parking facility has been added in Houhu, Yuelu District, Changsha, offering a total of 457 parking spaces.

In recent years, with the rapid economic and social development, the issue of parking difficulties has become increasingly pronounced. To address this, Yuelu District has been making every effort to advance… The “One Circle, Two Sites, Three Lanes” initiative aims to alleviate parking difficulties, and the Houhu New Village multi‑level parking garage is one of its key components.

“From now on, we’ll never have to worry about finding a parking spot again—so convenient!” On July 11, as they looked at the multi‑storey parking garage nearing completion, residents of Houhu New Village in Juzizhou Subdistrict, Yuelu District, said with great anticipation.

The立体 parking garage in Houhu New Village is located at the intersection of Houhu Road and Qingshui Road, covering an area of Covering 9,510 square meters, the site is bordered on the north and east by the Houhu New Village resettlement community. At present, the main structure of the three‑story, five‑level multi‑storey parking garage has been completed.

“This plot of land used to be a small hill. By conserving space and maximizing urban land use, we transformed it into a multi‑level parking facility,” said Zhang Jun, the project’s lead representative from the construction firm. The project, which cost 18 million yuan, broke ground last October and comprises both an underground parking structure and surface parking spaces, offering a total of 457 parking spots, including 176 eco‑friendly spaces. To accommodate electric vehicles, the parking lot is also equipped with charging stations.

“We will implement smart parking, so that in the future, even a vast parking lot will require only one staff member,” Zhang Jun explained. The multi‑level parking garage will be equipped with an intelligent parking system: drivers simply drive their vehicles into the parking unit, swipe their card, and the system will automatically respond by moving the car vertically and horizontally to park it in the designated space.

“The next phase will involve exterior cladding for the multi‑storey parking garage and pavement construction, with full completion expected by July,” said Zhang Jun. He added that the Houhu New Village parking facility is a key piece of infrastructure for the Houhu area; once operational, it will not only alleviate parking challenges for residents of Houhu New Village but also serve the Houhu Scenic Area, the Houhu Cultural and Arts Park, the Houhu Smart Park, as well as nearby metro stations.

In 2019, the region planned and constructed 16 parking lots, adding 5,307 parking spaces. To date, 12 parking lots have been completed, providing an additional 3,826 parking spaces, while construction on the remaining four is progressing steadily and is expected to be fully finished by the end of October.
