Hubei Province’s first eco‑smart parking garage will open on National Day.

Yichang East Station is an important tourist transit hub in Hubei Province, and the difficulty of finding parking has long been a major concern there. This National Day holiday, this challenge is expected to be fully resolved: a garden‑style smart parking garage will soon be put into operation, offering… Over 1,000 parking spaces.

Recently, a reporter from Chutian Metropolis Daily visited the construction site of the parking garage at Yichang East Railway Station. The project is located approximately on the west side of Yichang East Railway Station… It is 100 meters away, adjacent to the old parking lot, and only about 200 meters from the Yichang Passenger Transport Center.

The reporter observed on site that the project covers an area of nearly Covering 50,000 square meters, the parking structure features three above-ground levels and two underground levels, presenting a truly imposing presence. The walls are punctuated with countless small perforations, while the rest of the facade remains unremarkable.

According to Li Lei, project manager of the Municipal Department I at Yichang Urban Investment Company, the project’s total investment is approximately… With an investment of 290 million yuan, the parking structure covers a footprint of 8,189 square meters and offers 1,025 parking spaces, making it a multi‑level parking facility. According to engineering renderings provided by Li Lei, a green barrier climbs along the building’s exterior, with climbing plants such as ivy and wisteria swaying in the breeze to create rolling waves of greenery. Li Lei noted that the new parking garage addresses not only the parking shortage at Yichang East Railway Station. The government is also developing this site as one of Yichang’s 15 “Garden City” demonstration projects. Once completed, the multi‑level parking facility will become a striking landmark at Yichang East Station, with all four façades featuring vertical greening—fully embodying green ecological principles and aligning with Yichang’s vision as a “Garden City.”

In addition to its eco-friendly design, smart technology is another standout feature of this parking structure. The building will have one entrance and two exits on the ground floor. The entrance, located adjacent to Chengdong Avenue, will be equipped with two barrier gates, allowing two vehicles to enter simultaneously. On the left side facing the parking structure, two exits will be provided. Both entry and exit points are fitted with intelligent systems, so vehicles can enter or leave the facility in just… One minute. If a driver can’t find their car, they can use the reverse‑car‑finding system or the app to locate it. Each floor features dedicated parking spaces for women, and more than 10% of the spaces on every level are equipped with charging capabilities. Every floor is served by direct‑access elevators, and the indoor lighting is powered by photovoltaic solar energy.

The reporter observed that the first-floor parking garage also houses a number of retail outlets. “This parking facility is designed not only to provide convenient parking for residents but also to encourage them to spend appropriately,” said Peng Siyuan, the project’s on-site manager. He added that, thanks to the pedestrian overpass, it takes just five minutes to reach the parking garage from the East Station.

Peng Siyuan revealed that, based on the current project schedule, this project is expected to… Parking facilities will be ready by the end of August; however, completion of the acceptance inspection and fee‑approval procedures is expected to allow public access and operation before National Day.

In recent years, as the number of trains calling at Yichang East Station has increased year by year and season by season, the station’s role as a transportation hub has become increasingly prominent. At the same time, the imbalance between supply and demand for private‑car parking spaces at Yichang East Station has grown ever more acute.

It is understood that, in order to alleviate the imbalance between parking supply and demand at Yichang East Station, In 2018, the Yichang Municipal Government launched construction of the Yichang East Station multi‑level parking facility. Upon completion, it will become Hubei Province’s first large‑scale parking structure integrating ecological and smart‑technology concepts.
