Located at the confluence of five rivers in Beijing’s urban sub-center, the Canal Business District harbors a hidden… An “invisible” automated parking garage—this is the parking facility at the Canal Business District’s Municipal Comprehensive Supporting Service Center. On the afternoon of June 25, the “Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Coordinated Development On-site Visit Delegation” arrived at the Canal Business District’s Municipal Comprehensive Supporting Service Center to take in the impressive features of a smart, multi‑level parking structure.

According to the introduction, the intelligent multi‑level parking garage employs a new type of flat‑moving mechanical parking system and a fully automated parking management system. Vehicle owners simply drive their cars into the designated parking bay with the front facing in and can then leave; the system automatically parks the vehicle in an optimal spot.

Staff members demonstrated the underground garage’s automated parking system to the press corps. When parking, drivers first position their vehicles in a designated spot, after which an automated corridor transports the car to a specific parking space; above the space is a rectangular… The “car‑lifting system” raises the vehicle to move it into a parking space. When retrieving the car, the owner simply hands the previously issued parking card to the attendant and pays the fee; the vehicle can be retrieved in under 90 seconds, with the entire process—parking and retrieval—taking no more than three minutes. “The whole operation is fully automated and eliminates the need to back into a spot, making it ideal for beginners like me,” remarked a reporter from the press corps.

According to staff, thanks to the efficient allocation provided by the automated parking system, what was originally only sufficient to accommodate… A space that once accommodated 50 vehicles can now simultaneously provide 220 parking spots, effectively addressing the challenge of finding parking.
