The imbalance between parking supply and demand in Nanchang City is becoming increasingly pronounced; six public parking lot investment and construction projects in Zhuzhou City have been filed.

Nanchang City currently has 1.3 million registered motor vehicles, and the imbalance between parking supply and demand is becoming increasingly acute. Since the city launched the “Three-Year Plan for Public Parking Lot Construction” in 2016, a total of 313 public parking lots have been built across urban areas, adding approximately 275,000 parking spaces—120,000 of which are allocated to residential developments, 80,000 to public buildings, and over 70,000 to public use. At present, with the vehicle stock standing at 1.3 million and growing at a rate of roughly 300 new vehicles per day, the gap between parking supply and demand continues to widen. In response, the city has integrated parking‑lot development into its people‑benefiting initiatives, positioning it as a key component of urban renewal and infrastructure improvement.

A community in Changping has sparked resident dissatisfaction by imposing fees on parking spaces that were previously free, with the property management company stating it will standardize parking practices.

Residents of Longguan Guanhua Garden in Beiqijia Town, Changping District, have reported chaotic parking management within the community: on‑street parking spaces are not assigned, leading to frequent disputes over available spots. In addition, unauthorized vehicles enter the complex and park without oversight. Under these circumstances, the property management has also begun charging a fee for managing on‑street parking, sparking widespread dissatisfaction among residents. Today (October 29), the property management responded, stating that it is currently working to standardize parking regulations. Most residents park their cars in the free on‑street spaces, but a significant number of non‑residents also leave their vehicles there. Photo by Zhang Jingya, Beijing News. Charging fees for on‑street parking has drawn resident complaints. Resident Mr. Li said that since moving into the complex in 2017…
