Zhengzhou traffic police have added 83 new “illegal parking enforcement camera systems.” See here for their specific locations.

On November 6, a reporter from Dahe.cn learned from the Zhengzhou Traffic Police Detachment that, in order to support the citywide campaign to intensify enforcement against traffic violations, enhance technology‑driven management, and strengthen traffic order in urban areas, the Zhengzhou Public Security Bureau Traffic Police Detachment has installed a new batch of intelligent electronic surveillance devices. Following a period of trial operation and successful acceptance testing, the Zhengzhou traffic police will gradually publish information on the locations of these newly added smart monitoring systems. China from a Global Perspective: How Can the Parking Shortage Be Resolved?

China from a Global Perspective: How Can the Parking Shortage Be Resolved?

The allocation of spatial resources reflects a hierarchy of transport modes. In fact, in recent years, China has adopted, at the national macro‑strategic level, a policy framework that prioritizes adjusting the travel‑mode mix as the primary approach to tackling urban traffic congestion. However, the concrete implementation and practice at the local level often contradict this overarching vision. A common and typical phenomenon is that policymakers simultaneously tout the need to promote public transit, bike sharing, and pedestrian‑friendly development, while citing a lack of road capacity and insufficient land for stations and related facilities. At the same time, they succumb to pressure from car users, continually raising parking‑space requirements, devising ways to facilitate parking for private vehicles, and even encroaching on narrow alleyways, residential lanes, and community spaces.

Electronic Parking Fees: We Must Not Let Minor Glitches Undermine a Major Reform

Electronic Parking Fees: We Must Not Let Minor Glitches Undermine a Major Reform

“Clearing the way” for cameras: Electronic parking fees—small bugs must not undermine this major reform. Electronic payment has established the principle of “park in designated spaces, pay for parking, and face penalties for illegal parking,” while also ensuring a shift in the nature of charges from commercial to administrative‑public service fees, and in the collection method from on‑site manual billing to electronic‑device‑based payment. Near Peking University Cancer Hospital on Fucheng Road, “AiPark” high‑mounted video surveillance systems have been installed. Vehicles heading to the hospital now park in an orderly manner; parking is free for up to 15 minutes, eliminating lingering unauthorized stops and significantly improving traffic flow. Users can simply link their accounts to the “Beijing Traffic” app; once the 15‑minute limit is exceeded, they’ll receive a notification on their phone…

Chongqing Chaotianmen I. Significance of the Initiative In September 2019, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council issued the “Outline for Building a Transportation Powerhouse” (hereinafter referred to as the “Outline”), charting a new course for the future development of urban parking. The Outline calls for vigorously advancing smart transportation, fostering deep integration between emerging technologies—such as big data, the Internet, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and supercomputing—and the transportation sector; establishing a comprehensive transportation big-data center system; and further enhancing public transportation services and e‑government initiatives. It also emphasizes the scientific planning and construction of urban parking facilities, strengthening static transport infrastructure—including charging stations, hydrogen refueling stations, and self‑drive vehicle and recreational‑vehicle campsites—to comprehensively upgrade urban transportation infrastructure.

Zhejiang Province’s first ETC‑enabled parking lot at an automobile passenger terminal has been put into operation in Xinchang.

“This parking lot supports ETC.” On November 1, with the installation of ETC signage and vehicles swiftly exiting through the toll booth, the ETC payment system at the Xinchang County Passenger Transport Center parking lot officially went into operation, making it the first bus station parking lot in the province to adopt ETC payments. The parking lot at the Xinchang County Passenger Transport Center offers a total of 117 spaces, serving over a thousand vehicles daily. To speed up vehicle entry and exit, the transportation company undertook extensive preparatory work—including approval, installation, and commissioning—so that vehicles equipped with ETC can now be automatically detected, timed, and charged at the entrance and exit, enabling seamless, fast‑track toll collection without stopping. “Now, with…”
