Anshan’s 32-story three-dimensional “sky parking lot” has arrived.

Anshan’s 32-story three-dimensional “sky parking lot” has arrived.

On the 25th, at the construction site of the multi‑level automated parking garage at Anshan Financial Plaza, workers were braving the bitter cold. The current phase involves installing electric motors, all performed at height. Workers ascend to their workstations in suspended cradles and spend one to two hours per shift seated on icy metal scaffolding. As a key project for our city, the multi‑level automated parking garage is part of Anshan Financial Plaza. Standing 70 meters tall with 32 floors and 192 parking spaces, it will not only help alleviate the severe parking shortage near the station but also enhance the urban aesthetic of Anshan.

Shenzhen will add 2,370 parking spaces suitable for parking!

In Shenzhen, drivers dread not traffic jams but rather the frustrating experience of being stuck for two hours only to find themselves turned away from a parking lot. It seems it’s time to recommend some on‑street parking spaces! To make efficient and rational use of road resources and better meet residents’ short‑term parking needs, the Shenzhen Municipal Transportation Bureau, in collaboration with the Municipal Public Security Traffic Police Bureau, has drafted the “Planning Proposal for Newly Added Conformable Parking Spaces in Five Districts (New Areas) Outside the Original Special Economic Zone.” Which districts and road segments are involved, and how many new conformable parking spaces will be added in each? If you still haven’t found a suitable spot near your building, or if you think certain locations are poorly sited, please let the Shenzhen Municipal Transportation Bureau know right away.

China’s parking industry boasts enormous growth potential, with investment payback periods steadily shortening.

China’s parking industry boasts enormous growth potential, with investment payback periods steadily shortening.

1. Current Status of the Parking Industry Abroad In the early days of the automobile era in developed Western countries, the parking industry had already grown into a major sector, generating annual revenues of one trillion U.S. dollars. The United States, often referred to as “the nation on wheels,” boasts nearly ten billion dollars in parking‑related income and provides roughly 50,000 jobs each year. Japan and South Korea, two leading automobile markets, have seen car sales decline amid economic crises; nevertheless, their domestic parking industries continue to thrive. For permanent parking spaces—typically ranging from a dozen to several dozen spots—many households undertake construction themselves. Owning even a small parking facility can yield substantial supplemental income, enabling families to enjoy a stable, comfortable, and fulfilling lifestyle. 2. Domestic Parking…

To further enhance vehicle traffic efficiency and achieve the goals of cost reduction, increased efficiency, and environmentally friendly travel, starting in 2020, manual toll collection will be largely replaced by technologies such as highway electronic toll collection (ETC). By then, the nationwide ETC user base is expected to exceed 180 million, with ETC installation rates surpassing 80% across all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, and ETC usage on expressways reaching over 90%. Data: The province has 5.8472 million users. As of the end of 2018, Shenyang City had 2.3121 million registered vehicles (compared to 7.9848 million across the entire province), and as of July 5, 2019, the number of ETC users stood at…

To the skies or underground? How should Guangzhou’s multi‑level parking evolve?

To the skies or underground? How should Guangzhou’s multi‑level parking evolve?

Located on Shatai Road in Tianhe District, the No. 5 Space Multi‑Level Parking Garage addresses the challenge of parking scarcity. On November 14, the Xin Kuai Bao published a special report titled “How Can Shared Parking Break the Impasse?” (see pages 3–7 for details), aiming to more effectively tackle the issue of high rates of underutilized parking spaces. The fundamental cause of parking difficulties lies in the mismatch between the number of vehicles and available parking spots. Experts point out that, in addition to boosting the utilization rate of existing parking spaces, increasing the overall supply of parking is another effective strategy. With limited land resources, the key question is how to maximize spatial efficiency—by expanding parking facilities vertically, both aboveground and underground—so that parking evolves from a two-dimensional layout into a three-dimensional solution.
