Nanchong’s first smart multi‑storey parking garage will begin construction next month, with vehicle pick-up and drop-off times not exceeding 90 seconds!

On May 7, reporters learned from Shunqing Investment (Group) Co., Ltd. that a fully automated, intelligent multi‑level parking garage will be built in the Nanmenba area this June, helping to alleviate parking shortages in the old city district.

The proposed multi‑level parking garage in the Nanmenba area is located on Kong’er Street, in the heart of the commercial district of Shunqing’s old city. Situated adjacent to Kong’er Street Primary School, the facility will serve Nanchong Municipal Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, the entire 1227 Shopping Plaza, and surrounding areas along Xihu Street, Xueyuan Street, and other nearby thoroughfares.

Construction of the Kong’er Street multi‑storey parking garage will commence in June, with completion and commissioning expected by the end of this year.

The garage will feature a floor-to-ceiling glass curtain wall, spanning four levels. With four retail units located at the center of the first floor, the remaining space is configured as an enclosed parking facility, offering a total of 140 parking spaces.

In terms of vehicle management, the multi‑level parking garage on Kong’er Street will employ fully automated mechanical parking technology to achieve fully automated, intelligent operations.

First, the driver drives the vehicle into the elevating parking bay, then turns off the engine and removes the key before exiting. Once outside the elevator, the driver uses the control panel to initiate parking, and the vehicle is intelligently guided to an available parking space.

When picking up your car, simply hold a parking card up to the control panel; the automated shuttle will locate your vehicle and park it in the elevator bay. Once you step into the elevator, you can drive your car away. The entire process—from parking to retrieval—takes no more than 90 seconds.

The fully automated mechanical parking system includes vertical elevators that transport vehicles to floors with available spaces, as well as horizontal shuttle carts that select vacant parking spots within each floor.

According to reports, as Nanchong City’s first fully automated parking facility, the Kong’er Street multi‑level garage is a fully enclosed structure that not only safeguards vehicles against scratches, theft, and exposure to the elements but also departs from the traditional manual toll‑collection system. Instead, it employs an intelligent card‑swipe system for vehicle entry and exit, enabling unattended operation of the parking facility and significantly streamlining property management and fee collection. Moreover, by making efficient use of limited land, the garage doubles the number of available parking spaces, thereby effectively alleviating the city’s parking shortage.
