At that time, it will help alleviate the severe shortage of parking spaces in the Jiayan area and serve as a model for the development of multi‑storey parking facilities across Bao’an District. On May 9, the author was among the first to visit the Jiayan Smart Multi‑Storey Parking Garage, experiencing its advanced features, including facial recognition and the ability to retrieve a vehicle in just 60 seconds.

　　The Jiayan Intelligent Multi‑Storey Car Park is located at the intersection of Baomin Road and Xinzhen West Road in Bao’an District, alongside National Highway 107, offering convenient access. The surrounding area features a high concentration of office buildings, commercial streets, and residential neighborhoods, resulting in strong demand for parking. On the morning of May 9, the author entered the car park building through the entrance on the Baomin Road side. The ground markings are clear and easy to follow, with four vehicle entry/exit points. Once inside, drivers can simply follow the floor signage to select an available parking space and drive directly into it—no reversing required. Cameras automatically recognize license plates and open the garage doors. After parking, users can choose from four self‑service options outside the garage: fingerprint recognition, facial recognition, QR‑code scanning, or operation via a dedicated mobile app.

The author tested the facial recognition system: after confirming parking, the garage door closed automatically in under 10 seconds. Video surveillance showed that the vehicle had been conveyed to an upper‑level storage space, allowing other cars to continue using the parking service. To retrieve the car, the same self‑service kiosk with facial recognition was used; within a minute, the vehicle was lowered to ground level, and the gates at both ends of the garage opened simultaneously. Drivers could simply get in and drive off right away—extremely convenient.

　　Project engineer Yang Weixiong explained that the Jia’an Intelligent Multi‑Level Parking Garage currently offers 197 parking spaces, utilizing a fully automated horizontal‑shift parking system with four access points. The garage can retrieve a vehicle in as little as 60 seconds, with an average pick‑up or drop‑off time of approximately 90 seconds. In addition, the facility is equipped with 53 designated charging spaces for new‑energy vehicles and 15 ground‑level charging stations, ensuring both parking and charging needs are met. It is an integrated smart multi‑level parking and charging complex.

　　 Charges are capped at 25 yuan per day; a monthly plan costs just 400 yuan.

　　Regarding the parking‑garage fee issue that concerns residents most, the Jia’an Intelligent Multi‑Level Parking Garage offers free parking for up to 30 minutes. For any period exceeding 30 minutes, the first half‑hour is charged at RMB 10; thereafter, the rate is RMB 1 per hour, with a daily maximum charge of RMB 25.

　　Drivers with commercial office‑related parking needs in the area can opt for the more cost‑effective monthly pass, priced at 400 yuan per month. Monthly‑pass holders enjoy a minimum daily rate of just 13 yuan, making it a more reasonable option compared to other nearby commercial parking facilities. Please note that the garage imposes height, width, and length limits of 1.95 meters, 1.95 meters, and 5.3 meters, respectively. At present, this policy applies only to standard passenger cars and SUVs—both private and commercial vehicles—but does not yet cover vans or trucks.
