Parking Updates | Four New Unmanned Parking Lots Added in Shangjie District, Zhengzhou

Recently, the Traffic Rectification Command of the Urban Fine-Grained Management Office in Shangjie District, Zhengzhou, announced that, to alleviate traffic congestion, four new parking lots—on Danjiang Road, at the old bus station on Central Road, on Xuchang Road, and on Yuxin Street—have been put into operation, providing a total of 466 parking spaces.

Recently, the ETC parking‑fee collection system and surveillance cameras at the Danjiang Road parking lot have been installed and put into operation. “I’m in Shangjie District on a business trip and found a nearby parking lot—so convenient. Parking is free for up to half an hour, a rate I haven’t seen anywhere else in Zhengzhou. Every time I come, I can leave my car parked all day for just a few yuan, which is really great value,” said Mr. Zhang, who was visiting Shangjie District on business.

Wang Tianyun, deputy general manager of Zhengzhou Jiaojian Tou Parking Company, stated that the four existing parking lots offer temporary parking with the first 30 minutes free, a fee of 3 yuan for up to two hours, and an additional 1 yuan for each subsequent two-hour period—rates lower than those of conventional public parking facilities. Currently, all these parking lots are equipped with convenient features such as real-time vacancy alerts, QR‑code payment (supporting WeChat Pay, ETC, and other methods), smart access control, and comprehensive surveillance coverage, alleviating residents’ concerns about parking.

To better serve the public, the parking facilities have also introduced monthly‑pass discounts. Going forward, each parking lot will gradually roll out a one‑click intercom feature and install emergency buttons at the exit to enable emergency calls. Once connected, these calls will be routed to the central monitoring room, allowing direct communication between drivers and parking‑lot staff, thereby facilitating the handling of special situations and minimizing contact during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Shangjie Jiaojian Tou Parking Company will adopt a service model that combines “unmanned tolling with centralized management” and technologies integrating “cloud services with artificial intelligence,” gradually enabling unmanned operation of public parking facilities in Shangjie District while maintaining human‑assisted services.
