Since the Zhengzhou Municipal Urban Management Department took over parking management, it has actively collaborated with the public security traffic authorities to organize all districts (and administrative committees) to significantly increase the number of on‑street parking spaces. In 2019, 19,453 on-street parking spaces were added, bringing the city’s total number of authorized on-street parking spaces to 36,000 and creating a convenient parking environment for residents.
Following the promulgation and implementation of the “Regulations on the Construction and Management of Parking Facilities in Zhengzhou City,” the city’s urban management authorities, in accordance with the municipal government’s arrangements, organized the urban management departments of all districts (and management committees) to conduct a comprehensive survey of on‑street parking spaces throughout the city. They subsequently carried out a concentrated cleanup and standardization effort, removing illegally installed parking spaces and rectifying officially designated on‑street parking spots that encroach upon non‑motorized vehicle lanes.

As of now, irregular parking spaces have been cleared. A total of 12,590 parking spaces were identified, including 9,637 illegally designated on‑street parking spots and 2,953 on‑road parking spaces that, following the removal of unauthorized markings, left non‑motorized vehicle lanes narrower than 1.5 meters. According to the preliminary inspection records, with the exception of a small number of non‑compliant parking spaces still being cleared in Zhengdong New Area, all other non‑compliant on‑street parking spaces in the urban districts have now been largely eliminated.
In accordance with the Regulations on the Administration of Parking Lot Construction in Zhengzhou, parking spaces designated along urban roadways shall be established under the leadership of the traffic management department of the public security organ, in compliance with relevant national laws, regulations, and standards, and shall be entrusted to the urban management department for administration.
No organization or individual may, without authorization, install, damage, or remove the signs or markings designating on‑street parking spaces. Any such violation shall be investigated and dealt with by the traffic management department of the public security organ in accordance with the Regulations of Henan Province on Road Traffic Safety and the Regulations of Zhengzhou Municipality on the Administration of Parking Lot Construction.
