This year, Hangzhou’s urban areas will add 55,000 new parking spaces.
Recently, the Hangzhou Municipal Construction Commission announced that this year, the city’s ten central districts will add 55,000 parking spaces, including 5,000 public spaces. Among the projects scheduled for completion throughout the year, six are underground public parking facilities beneath parks and green spaces, which will provide 3,288 public parking spots. “Going forward, we will focus on unlocking the potential of urban parkland and underground space resources, strengthen coordinated funding at both municipal and district levels, and maintain our momentum by adding more than 50,000 new parking spaces annually,” said a spokesperson from the Municipal Construction Commission. The commission added that it will fully integrate these efforts with initiatives such as new area development, renovation of older residential neighborhoods, and construction of supporting facilities for resettlement housing, continuously exploring multi‑use spatial solutions and tapping the latent capacity of underground areas.

What are the advantages of Guizhou’s unmanned smart parking system?
Although purchasing a car and obtaining license plates in China’s major cities has become increasingly difficult, the more pressing challenge is the shortage of parking spaces. As residential complexes grow taller, the limited availability of land has led to severe under‑planning of parking facilities. Even as many communities vigorously pursue smart‑community initiatives, the lack of sufficient parking continues to hold them back.

Current status of multi‑level parking garages in Zhengzhou’s residential communities: Newly planned developments are eager to proceed, while developers have already demolished those that were already built.
As community parking issues become increasingly acute, some residential complexes in Zhengzhou are stepping up efforts to build multi‑level parking garages, “borrowing” space both upward and downward. A company specializing in community‑scale automated parking systems reports that, over the past few months, five or six developments have expressed interest in commissioning them to construct such facilities. However, a survey by a Henan Business Daily reporter reveals that while many neighborhoods without multi‑level parking are eager to adopt this solution, some communities that once built these structures have since dismantled them. With more than 3,000 private cars and only about 300 parking spaces, the property management at Huguangyuan, a long‑established residential complex in Zhongyuan District of Zhengzhou, is particularly keen to install a multi‑level parking garage.

Bozhou, Anhui Province, will build 1,200 smart parking spaces.
On April 9, Bozhou Transportation Control Group announced that, in order to build a national civilized city, establish a well-organized and orderly new traffic system, and continuously meet the growing parking needs of tourists and local residents in this renowned historical and cultural city, the group is implementing the Intelligent Road Parking Space System Project for the central urban area of Bozhou. Currently, the parking space marking work has been completed, and the installation of video surveillance equipment, the construction of the command center, as well as the development and commissioning of the supervision platform are nearing completion and will be fully finished in the near future. At that time, our city’s “Internet Plus Parking” intelligent parking service and regulatory system will be ready for operation. It is understood that the intelligent parking system not only enables online monitoring of vehicle parking but also provides robust evidence to support the public security traffic management system in tackling license‑plate fraud, illegal parking, and solving criminal cases, thereby facilitating joint law enforcement across multiple departments and enhancing urban safety.
